210年以上もの歴史を誇る老舗和菓子店。昭和天皇が京都行幸の際にお買い上げされたそう。戦時中も、政府により「戦時京菓子18種」にロングセラー商品である「柚餅」が選ばれるなどし、厳しい時代でも発展を続けました。和菓子の種類は羊羹、最中、どら焼きに、生菓子やおまんじゅうなどさまざま。柚餅の他に、「京観世」小豆本来の味が生かされる素朴なお菓子も有名。季節ごとの可愛らしい羊羹や生菓子などがあり、いつでも違ったものを楽しめます。和菓子の販売のほか、和菓子作り体験を不定期で開催しています。
They have more than 210 years of history as a Wagashi shop. Showa emperor once made a purchase here. Their wagashi kept evolving even during the war while their long-seller “Yuzu mocha” was chosen for “18 Kyogashi (Kyoto sweets) in war” by the government. Their beautiful and fine works on the Wagashi has been a delicacy for many of the locals. There are so many kinds of wagashi, such as Yokan, monaka, dorayaki, namagashi, omanju, etc. Besides Yuzu mochi, Kyokanze is also a very famous wagashi in this shop. Seasonal Wagashi are also sold like namagashi and yokan, that are visually very pretty, so you can always find new wagashi every time you visit the shop. They also irregularly hold events where you can experience making wagashi.
