西陣にある京菓子のお店、塩芳軒は、京都の風土や風習をよく知り生活を楽しむことが京都らしいお菓子作りに繋がると言います。聚楽(juraku)というお菓子が代表で、印の押された独特な風味の生地にしっとりした餡が詰まった饅頭のようなお菓子です。他にも季節の蒸菓子やもなかなど、たくさん種類があります。
Shioyosiken, a Kyogashi (kyoto confectionery) shop in Nishijin says that being familiar with customs and cultures of Kyoto and enjoying life in Kyoto lead to being able to make good Kyogashi. Their signature Kyogashi is called Juraku which is like Manju with unique-flavored dough and moist sweet bean paste. Beside that, there are many other confections such as seasonal steamed sweets and monaka.
