今出川通りを西へ向かい自転車屋さんの角から斜めに進むと石畳の道に差し掛かります。

京の花街（はなまち）の一つ、上七軒。室町時代、北野天満宮の再建の際に余った材で七軒の茶店を建てたことが名の由来です。

静かな早朝や淡い夕暮れ時に、1人でしんしんと、誰かと一緒に歩を進めながら北野天満宮の東門へ、そのまま凛とした境内の中へ行くもよし。

あるいは、もうちょっとだけ散歩を楽しみたい日は御前通りをあがるもよし。

Head west on Imadegawa Dori and walk diagonally from the corner of the bicycle shop until you reach a cobblestone street. This is Kamishichiken, one of Kyoto’s Hanamachi. The name originates from the fact that seven teahouses were built in the Muromachi period (1336-1573) with leftover wood from the reconstruction of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. In the quiet early mornings and pale evenings, you can walk to the east gate of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine alone or with someone else, and go straight into the onmae-dori. Or, if you want to enjoy a longer walk, you can go up Gozen Street.
